Surgical Hope Children's Fund

Surgical Hope Children’s Fund was formed and founded in 1996 by Dr. Safwat S. Andrawes, a pediatric urologist/surgeon. Dr. Safwat came to Kenya over thirty eight years ago and has been working as a surgeon since the 1980’s. As he established his practice he began doing more and more charity work for those that approached him without sufficient funds. It was toward the late 90’s that he decided to create the fund to aid more children in dire need of surgical care who were not able to afford it. Since then SHCF has gone from helping a handful of children each year to well over a hundred.

In order to reduce the overhead costs and utilize funds for the children in need, all the organization’s staff are volunteers and receive no payment for their services.
